*Thursday Throwback* Daily Special - Sativa

I'll admit my expectations for this one was rock bottom! Aurora isn't known for top quality cannabis, so seeing their "discount brand" made me wonder how bad this was going to be. Here is my full review of Daily Special, Sativa.

Lineage: (or cultivar in this case) I'm told is either OG Melon or Blue Dream. (I'm guessing OG Melon on this one.)
Purchased: March 20th, 2020. Packaged: February 13th, 2020. Reviewed: March 25th, 2020.
19% THC 0% CBD, Sativa
Grown indoors in Alberta
Unsure of the dominant terpenes since it’s not listed.
Packaging: A big black plastic jar with enough room for double the amount of cannabis!
$40.80 for 7 grams of cannabis, purchased through the Ontario Cannabis Store website.
Appearance - 4/25 points
Size: 1 point (0 to 3 points avail.); A few nice nugs but a lot of the nugs look like they've been ripped apart. Large amount of crumble and shake in the jar.
Color: 2 points (0 to 3 points avail.); Various lighter shades of green with rusty brown hairs.
Trim Job: 1 point (-3 to 3 points avail.); The nugs that actually exist look nicely trimmed....the ones that look ripped apart on the other hand.....?
Moisture: 2 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); Not too bad, a bit of squish and bounce back.
Bag Appeal: 0 points (0 to 3 points avail.); Kibble & bits & bits. Multiple nugs look like someone has been taking a bite out of them.
Weight: -3 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); 6.5 grams. Half a gram underweight!
Trichomes: 1 point (0 to 3 points avail.); Mostly damaged headless trichomes. The ones that are intact have heads that are clear to cloudy in color.
Seeds: 0 points (-2 points per seed, max. of -10 points); No seeds
Smell - 8/25 points
Appealing: 5 points (0 to 10 points avail.); Fruitier smell. Like a sweet melon. Reminds me of cantaloupe.
Fragrant: 3 points (0 to 8 points avail.); Not a strong smell, you really have to get your nose in there!
Pungent: 0 points (0 to 7 points avail.); Complete opposite of pungent! Not that that is a bad thing, I just personally like my weed to have a bit of stank to her!
Bad Smell: 0 points (-5 to 0 points avail.); No bad smells to report.
Taste - 3/25 points
Flavor when Smoked: -3 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); Nasty burnt flavor to it! This popcorn is overcooked!
Harshness when Smoked: -4 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); Set my throat on fire and had me coughing like an old man that smokes two packs a day!
Flavor when Vaped: 3 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); Amazing how different vaping can be from smoking! This was actually pretty enjoyable! You get a lovely melon flavor.
Harshness when Vaped: 4 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); Very smooth!
Flavor from unlit inhale: 3 points (0 to 5 points avail.); Pretty enjoyable flavor. Very melon-like.
Effects/Experience - 5/15 points
Strength: 2 points (-3 to 3 points avail.); Hit me nicely in the head. Felt like someone deflated the weight in my head which made it float above the clouds.
Length: 2 points (-3 to 3 points avail.); Felt the main effects for about 40 minutes.
Expected Effects: 2 points (-3 to 3 points avail.); Definitely felt that typical sativa head high, but also did not feel motivated at all!
Ash: -2 points (-3 to 3 points avail.); Gross dark black ash.
Burn: 1 point (-3 to 3 points avail.); I wouldn't say it was the best burning joint I've had, but definitely not the worst!
Value - 4/10 points
Quality: 1 point (-5 to 5 points avail.); $5.83 a gram is a decent price point, but the quality I received on this one would indicate a cheaper than that price point! I legit had "nugs" that looked like someone ripped off the good stuff and then threw it back in my jar!
Cannabis: 3 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); Ignoring the quality issues for a second, if you only vaped this cannabis, I think you would be fairly satisfied. I did enjoy the flavor when vaped and the effects I experienced were pretty enjoyable!

So there we have it, Daily Special, Sativa....not all that special! Safe to say, this will be going into the "Vape Only" section of my stash closet!
