Had the opportunity to test out some cannabis that isn't available in Ontario, yet....well sort of, more on that in a later review (see Kush Cake by 7Acres Craft Collective review). Started to hear a fair amount about blkmkt, but maybe that was just the bad press regarding their name? I do enjoy the name, it's like giving a nod to the black market that's been around for as long as cannabis has been outlawed. Some big shoes to fill, let's see how blkmkt stacks up.....

• Flavor when Smoked: 4 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); tastes so good! Like grape candy...give me more!!

This is definitely some solid cannabis with room to improve. The dryness of the cannabis definitely needs to be addressed! Maybe add a seal to the jar? Maybe even a Boveda? I also think that price point needs to drop. Good first impressions of blkmkt though! Look forward to reviewing their other cultivars. Hopefully they become available in Ontario asap!

December-ish 2019, Redecan released a sativa dominant hybrid by the name of Mistletoke. It was a big hit with customers and myself. What we knew at that time was that it was a limited release for the holidays. Lucky for us, they added it as a staple to their growing menu of cultivars! I was real excited for this one having loved Mistletoke a few months ago, here's my review of Outlaw......

One thing I'll mention, if you loved the Mistletoke from holidays 2019, this Outlaw tastes and feels very different! I was a little disappointed in Outlaw, but probably more so in the sense that it wasn't how I remembered Mistletoke!

• Flavor when Vaped: 3 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); It's slightly better vaped than smoked in a joint, but not by much.

Another solid cultivar being put out under the Top Leaf brand. I've had quite a few Girl Scout Cookies in my past (both the cannabis & actual cookies!) and I'm pleased with this sampling. • Flavor when Smoked: -2 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); If "gross, burnt, black" was a flavor, it would be this D. Bubba. It was pretty bad and made it a chore to smoke!

• Flavor when Vaped: -2 points (-5 to 5 points avail.); Even when vaped, it still had the burnt gross flavor to it.

I'm pretty disappointed with this D. Bubba from Namaste. I will maybe try it again sometime in the distant future. I'm wondering if maybe I had some bad luck with purchasing just 1 gram? Would I get better results from a 3.5? My first Namaste experience has definitely left a bad taste in my mouth, but I do believe in second chances.....until next time, Namaste!

• Trim Job: 1 point (-3 to 3 points avail.); The nugs that actually exist look nicely trimmed....the ones that look ripped apart on the other hand.....?

So let me tell you about this Khalifa Kush pre-roll I just smoked. Not normally one to buy pre-rolls, but there's a time and place; This one was purchased on Dec. 14th, 2019, she played a game of hide & seek on my table! I rediscovered the doob tube tonight and to my delight, the joint was nestled in the tube waiting for the spark of my lighter! Upon opening the tube I was met with a very pungent skunky aroma attacking my nostrils making me say Ooh Wee! You could also get a lingering lemon scent that seemed like an odd pairing. Firing up the Khalifa Kush, it offered me some funky flavours! The flavour on her was a mixed bag of tricks. On the inhale you got a skunky, sour earthy flavour. On the exhale, you got this almost sweet citrusy candy. The Kush definitely had some bite to her, throwing a little elbow to the back of my throat. Before I was done the joint, the effects had already gone from right between my eyes to running down the rest of my body! I found my mood was being elevated and I was very focused on the movie I was watching. (The Big Lebowski....great pairing if I say so myself!) I was very relaxed and soon the munchies came screaming! It's been almost an hour now and I'm still feeling some lingering effects! It's easy to say, I loved this offering from Tryke. Thanks to Reef Dispensary in Las Vegas for stocking the goods! Wish I had easy access to plenty more of this Khalifa Kush, it's a smoke that I want to indulge in many many more times....maybe even share with some friends! Maybe Wiz Khalifa can send me some? No grading on this one, just wanted to share some thoughts!

Here we have some Strawberry Fire OG from Gage Cannabis. This hybrid is coming in at 19.5% THC & 0.18% CBD. Cracking the seal on this jar, I was met with what I would call, a fresh produce kind of smell. Giving the buds a little squeeze, I caught a pungent whiff with some strawberry undertones. The buds themselves were crispy dry on the outside with a slight touch of tackiness on the inside. Grinding the nugs up, I rolled myself a nice joint & prepared for lift off. I loved the flavour I was getting from the Strawberry Fire OG! I found it to be very sweet and fruity, kind of like a strawberry candy. While partaking in this deliciousness, I realized the effects were starting to settle in right behind my eyes. Total head high that brought along a good round or two of the giggles! Definitely a mood elevating smoke. Once the giggles subsided, I found myself to be very focused on the task at hand....taking notes on this fine cannabis that I was enjoying! Another solid release from Gage Cannabis Co. I'd give this Strawberry Fire OG a rating of 8/10. Wish we saw a lot more releases from Gage.....seems like it's been months since they put something out.....the wait was worth it with this stuff! Just makes me greedy and want tons more from them!

Pure Sunfarms with their Afghan Kush. What we've got here is an indica with a total THC of 16.1% & a total CBD of 0%. The Afghan Kush was packaged on Aug. 15, 2019 & I purchased it on Sept. 27, 2019. Pure Sunfarms is newer to the recreational scene (or atleast from what I've seen), and it had a nice price point, so I thought I'd give her a try. Upon opening the bag, I was greeted by a couple of nice and frosty nugs paired with a freshly cut grass smell. The buds were crispy dry so I broke them up with my fingers in preparation to roll a joint. The smell that was left on my fingers was a blend of fresh dandelions with a touch of cat piss! Fired up my freshly rolled joint and was met by some super harsh and foul tasting smoke! It became a chore to smoke the entire joint. She did not taste good at all! After finally finishing the joint, it was as if there was a bad taste layered on my tongue. I had to brush my teeth to cleanse my pallet. The buzz brought on by the Afghan Kush was a dizzying head high paired with a headache. Safe to say, I have some leftover weed for friends (or maybe enemies) because I definitely won't be smoking it! I'd give this Afghan Kush from Pure Sunfarms a rating of 3/10. She looked pretty but it was all downhill from there!

Whistler Cannabis Co. & their Bubba Kush. The box tells me that this Indica dominant hybrid has a THC total of 24.48% with a CBD total of 0.04%. The cannabis found within the box is chemical free, sustainably grown & organic certified. 3.5 grams of this Bubba Kush was packaged May 27, 2019.I purchased this on July 10, 2019. Inside the box was a plastic container holding the weed. It also included a boveda pack. Pulling back that seal, I was instantly met with a very Kushy scent filling my nose holes! The 2 beautiful buds were trimmed perfectly and were glistening like diamonds in the sun light! Weighing the cannabis, it indeed weighed 3.5 grams. I couldn't stop squeezing and smelling the dense buds.....I'm not going to lie, I was a little turned on! The ol' devil lettuce ground up perfectly and I rolled myself the perfect joint. The joint seemed to be never ending. It was super smooth with a classic Kush flavour and a nice white ash. The reefer took about 15 minutes to smoke and had me feeling pretty good about half way through her! This one had me feeling higher than giraffe nuts! Classic indica stone. Very laid back. Eyes heavy. Long lasting buzz as well. Can't say enough good things about this one! But now here is the bad.....the price is ridiculous! I paid $81 for 3.5 grams. Eighty one dollars! I find myself asking, "was it worth it?". Yes, no, maybe so? Clearly at that price point, I cant afford to have this as my goto, but it's the perfect special occasion or spoil myself kinda smoke! My rating for this guy is going to be a 9/10. The price point dropped it from a 10/10.

Good Supply with their Royal Highness strain. I'll start by saying that I'm not entirely sure what the actual strain for this guy is. The Royal Highness that I've known from the past was a 1:1 THC/CBD strain, which this version is not! What the package does tell me is that it's a hybrid with a total THC of 19.40% & a total CBD of <0.14%. The 1 gram of dried cannabis was packaged on April 15, 2019 and I purchased it on June 15, 2019. The buds themselves were flat like someone sat on the package. They were light green in colour and were lacking in the aroma category. They did have a bit of a citrus smell to them, but the aroma was very weak. The weed was fairly dry but still had a bit of fluffiness left in them. Rolled up myself a nice joint and fired her up. I found the reefer to be fairly harsh with a bad taste. I also found myself to be coughing after each inhale! For the record, I rarely cough when smoking a joint, so the fact i was coughing so much was pretty odd! I noticed while smoking the joint that the ash was pretty dirty. After all was said and done, I was left with a harsh feeling on the throat, a bad taste in my mouth, & some serious cottonmouth! The high was enjoyable. I found it to be very indica-like. I was totally mellowed out and lost in the TV. I was big time zoned out and lost about an hour of my day! Lol Royal Highness by Good Supply cost me $13 for 1 gram, purchased at Canna Cabana in Hamilton. I did really enjoy the buzz this dried cannabis brought me, but I absolutely hated the taste & harshness of this weed! I would give this a rating of 4/10.

More Broken Coast deliciousness. This time I tried out the Keats, which happens to be White Walker Kush. (Side note, why do companies have to rebrand or change the names of the strains?!) The Keats is said to be 40% sativa & 60% indica with a total THC of 18.2% and a total CBD of 0.02%. I purchased 10 grams for $110.80 (plus tax). The packaging date was December 10, 2018 with a delivery date of April 15, 2019. I'm a little disappointed with the amount of time the cannabis has been sitting in its package. Opening the seal I found those nice frosty buds I've grown to expect from Broken Coast. They carried an earthy smell. Weighed the weed out to 9.9 grams. The buds were a little on the stale side but nowhere as dry as some of the other legal weed I've purchased in the past. Rolled myself a nice sized joint and sparked her up. The flavour was ok, very earthy/woodsy. The smoke was smooth. The buzz I got from the White Walker Kush is what I can imagine a 40% sativa & 60% indica hybrid would feel like. My eyes instantly got heavy and my head felt the indica influenced desire to nap. At the same time, the rest of my body felt motivated to go go go! It was almost like an inner body tug-of-war. I can't really say that I enjoyed the effects, but they were how I would imagine a 40/60 hybrid would feel. I would rate the Keats from Broken Coast a 7/10. Although the effects weren't what I'd typical go for, it did what i expected it would, so I guess I can't really deduct points for not digging it. More solid flower from Broken Coast, but this one isn't for me.

White Widow by Redecan Pharm has a THC total of 17.8% & a CBD total of 0.07%. This hybrid (sativa dominant) was packaged on May 28, 2019 and I received it June 6, 2019. Pretty sweet packaging date on this one! Wish all the legal weed was this fresh! 3.5 grams of this dried cannabis goes for $33.50 on the OCS website. Cracking open the seal of this white widow, my nose was met with the smell of fresh cut grass and dandelions with a bit of citrus. The weed looked nice and weighed out to 3.5 grams. Handling the nugs, I found them to feel crispy and dry. Once I started breaking a nug up to roll a joint, I quickly found that the outside of the nugs were dry but the inside of the nugs were sticky and fresh! Probably some of the freshest legal cannabis I've had. The joint burnt nicely and carried an earthy with a hint of lemon taste. I found the cannabis to be a touch on the harsh side but not too bad that it made it a bad experience. The buzz I got from the White Widow was pretty enjoyable. I could feel it massaging my brain and motivating me to clean some dirty bongs & rigs. A satisfying day time smoke, enough to take the edge off and motivate you to get shit done. The effects didn't last all that long and I found myself smoking something else half an hour later. The white widow from Redecan was enjoyable but nothing outta the ordinary. I wouldn't mind smoking it from time to time but I definitely wouldn't want this to be my regular smoke. I would rate this dried cannabis a 6.5/10.

DNA Genetics & their Kosher Kush is sitting at 21% total THC and <0.10% total CBD. This indica was packaged on April 9, 2019 and was purchased on May 10, 2019 for the price of $47 for 3.5 grams from Canna Cabana in Hamilton. I'll start by mentioning that this cannabis is being put out by Tweed. What I've been noticing after indulging in multiple strains & recreational brands from Tweed is that they're all tasting & smelling the same and carry an almost chemical scent & flavour with it. I'm beginning to think that's being transferred from the container to the cannabis.....but maybe that's just me? Also, none of their containers are properly sealed, so there goes any chance of fresh bud! The little popcorn buds are light green with some dark green mixed in.....lots of red hairs. The smell of the weed was what I mentioned above, a bit on the chemical side with an earthy undertone. The cannabis was pretty dry, no need for a grinder, it just fell apart between my fingers. I rolled up a joint of the wacky tabacky and lit her up. Flavour wise it was a cross of chemical and earthy basement funk. I found the more I smoked of the joint, the harsher it got. It wasn't the most enjoyable joint I've smoked. The buzz was nice, probably the only thing enjoyable about the Kosher Kush. It had me really digging the tunes I was listening to and laughing at nothing! I'd rate this sampling from DNA Genetics being put out by Tweed a 6/10. I truly think that if Tweed started using better packaging and their products were a little bit fresher, their dried cannabis could be top shelf!

Broken Coast with their Rhubarb Kush. The bottle tells me that this dried cannabis has a THC total of 18.6% & a CBD total of 0.03%. This kush is 80% indica & 20% sativa. It was packaged on 2019-04-08 and I received it in the mail on 2019-05-24. I'll be honest, being that I'm not a fan of rhubarb, I was a little worried about this one. I thought I should still give her a try though since Broken Coast always has some quality flower! Cracking the seal, I was met with what I've grown to expect from Broken Coast....gorgeous frosty nugs! The aroma escaping the bottle was earthy with a sour fruity thing going on. The buds were a little on the sticky side and appeared to be wonderfully cured and trimmed. Rolled up a nice size joint to share with a friend. We were both very pleased with the way she smoked & tasted. Much like the aroma, it had that earthy, sour fruity flavour but added a touch of pepper. The joint was super enjoyable! The buzz that soon followed was everything I could ask for from an indica. I was very relaxed, fully mellowed out and was lost in the music. It also had me giggling at everything! While enjoying the buzz the rhubarb kush gave me, I found myself wondering what makes the perfect bud to smoke? Am I allowed to give this a 10? I wonder how good some rosin would be from these buds? And just like that I found myself lost in the song Life's Been Good by Joe Walsh. It's safe to say that I loved this offering from Broken Coast! For 5 grams of Rhubarb Kush, it cost me $52.80 (plus tax & shipping). I've decided to rate the Rhubarb Kush a 9.9/10. I've docked .1 of a point because I foresee myself wanting a lot more and that won't be good for my wallet!

Cold Creek Kush by Redecan Pharm. This sativa dominant hybrid has a THC total of 22.4% and a CBD total of 0.07%. The dried cannabis was packaged on April 5, 2019 and I purchased this 1 gram on May 14, 2019 from Canna Cabana in Hamilton for $12. The cannabis looked real nice, had a nice dank smell to it & did indeed weigh 1 gram. The weed wasn't bone dry like some of the stuff I've purchased in the past. It had a stale cotton candy-like consistency. I've heard a bunch of people really enjoyed this strain from Redecan so I was really looking forward to smoking this one. I rolled up a nice joint and sparked her up. She burnt real nice and had an enjoyable earthy/woody flavour. The disappointing part of the Cold Creek Kush was that I felt absolutely nothing from her. Zero buzz to report. I waited about 10-15 minutes and still felt nothing so I rolled myself a joint of something different to achieve the high I was looking for. I'd rate this Cold Creek Kush a 5/10. Prior to lighting her up, she met all of my requirements on what makes some nice weed. The effects were the main downfall for this one. Maybe I just need to try the next batch?

Subway Scientist from Riff, a recreational cannabis line by Aphria Inc. The bottle tells me that this indica has a THC total of 19.47% & a CBD total of <0.14%. The devils lettuce was packaged on March 13, 2019 & I purchased it on May 14, 2019. 3.5 grams of the Subway Scientist cost me $35 from Canna Cabana in Hamilton. The strain is actually Granddaddy Purple. Inside a little cardboard tube I found a smaller black plastic jar. Opening the little jar, I was met with a seal....assuming to preserve freshness. Peeling back the seal I found the jar was full of cannabis. Big switch from opening other larger jars that aren't even half full of cannabis! The smell coming from the weed was a cross of berries and pine. The weed itself were loose buds with some nice purple tones mixed in with the dark green colours. The dried cannabis did indeed weigh 3.5 grams. The buds were a touch on the leafy side and could have used a better trim job. Like usual, the cannabis was crunchy and dry. I rolled up a nice little joint for myself and sparked it up. The flavour or lack of one, was very disappointing. The buzz the ganja brought on was pleasant. It set in behind my eyes and immediately calmed & relaxed me. It's not an over powerful buzz, just the right amount for a lazy Sunday afternoon. It did bring on some serious cotton mouth! I'd rate Subway Scientist by Riff a 7/10. Just need to tighten up on the trim job and the flavour.....this has potential of being top shelf!

N⁰ 402 Blueberry Kush from Haven St. The large bottle tells me that this Kush has a total THC of 15.72% & a total CBD of 0.02%. It also tells me that this cannabis was packaged on Feb. 19 2019 and that the net weight is 3.5 grams. Interesting to note, nowhere on the package does it tell me whether it's a hybrid, sativa or indica. It is an indica dominant flower. Opening the jar and cracking open the seal, I was met with some dark green buds that had a sweet earthy aroma. The buds were pretty dried out, but not as bad as some of the other ones have been. There was a bit of shake at the bottom of the jar. The weed weighed out to 3.4 grams. The ganja ground up nicely and I rolled myself a joint. The joint was a pleasant smoke. Not harsh at all & left a bit of a sweet flavour on the back of my tongue. I've also enjoyed this cannabis in my Pax 3 and found that sweet flavour was even more prominent! The buzz started out really awesome. Full body buzz and a heavy hitter in the head. I felt very relaxed and at ease. My small problem with the buzz I got was that it was very short lived. Twenty minutes after smoking/vaping, it had felt like the buzz had totally worn off. I wish the effects would have lasted longer because they were very enjoyable! I purchased this Blueberry Kush from Canna Cabana for $33 for 3.5 grams. The price is definitely on point! Almost feels like a steal! I was originally going to rate this offering from Haven St. a 6 out of 10 due to its shake and the short lasting effects, but I've decided to bump it up to 7/10. The buzz I got (although short lived) and the price point were both top notch!
